Skipper

I'm sorry I've not written sooner to say that Skipper pka Steffen is healthy and happy in his new forever home. Every day with him is a blessing and a surprise. Skipper is so smart and energetic; he really keeps us on our toes with endless rounds of fetch. He is good on the leash and proved to be quite the gentleman at his new vet's office. I made comment to Cameron a few days ago that I could not believe Skipper's original owners would simply let him go as he is such a wonderful, loving pup. Skipper has also made many new human and dog friends in the neighborhood and has quite the following on facebook! I could go on forever praising this little dog; but since we are all in love with miniature schnauzers, we all understand that too many words are not necessary. Skipper is perfect and a credit to the breed. Thank you so very much for saving our little darling until he could find his forever home.

Evan and Erin (previously Pearl)

Tom and I adopted Evan in April of 2010 and Erin (previously Pearl) in May of 2012. We love them both so much and can't imagine our lives without them. Tom and I really try to schedule everything we do around our precious kids. We are sad when we are away from them, and it is the best feeling to come home to pets we love so much. We also have an adopted, rescue cat named Alex. He has been with us for over eight years. Erin is still chasing and barking at Alex a bit, but it is all in good fun. Our family is so blessed. Thank you Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston for saving our dogs so that they could become apart of our family.

Thank you!

Dear MSRH,
I just wanted to take a second to tell you thanks for finding the perfect home for me. I just love my new family and they are crazy about me. Sometimes I get into a little (ok…sometimes it's a lot) of mischief…mom gives me "the look" and I know I'm in trouble. She sends me to bed but never without supper! I'm trying my best to put on a few more pounds…that's hard work when you're an active guy! Mom lets me have a biscuit on Saturday mornings when she makes weekend breakfast…but shhh…don't tell dad! It is baseball season now and I love going to the games with the family! There are so many kids to play with and I'm sort of a big deal there! I usually finish my days playing outside with Trae and Natalie. Then it's time to curl up in mom's lap for a good snuggle. When it's bed time, Trae and I retire to our bedroom to doze off and dream about growing up to play in the big leagues…for the Yankees, of course!
So, I hope things are as well for y'all as they are for me. Thanks again for everything you did for me! I'll always have a special place in my heart for MSRH.
Love always,

Mojo
(We changed my name from Micah when I came here… I found my mojo pretty quick after finding my forever home!)

My New Home is Like Doggie Heaven

My name is Lili and this is the story of how I was adopted and now living it up in doggie heaven. My mom went shopping at Steinmart and they did not have what she wanted. She got in her car to leave, when she looked up and realized she was in the same shopping center as her veterinarian. She got out of her car went inside to ask her friend, Dr. Randy, if he knew of any miniature schnauzers needing a home. That is where it all began.

They gave her the MSRH name and number. When she got home she immediately started researching and sending pictures to my dad to be, of coarse one of the pictures was me. His response was "it would be great to have a furry friend." " How long does it take and what do we need to do?" I was picked up by my new parents on February 11, 2012 and took what seemed like a really long ride to Cypress. On the way home I was so nervous that I threw up, but mom and dad understood. I have lots of love, get brushed every nite, go on walks, have a bunch of toys and even have two beds. I am so happy and so are my mom and dad.

Thank you MSRH for taking such good care of me while I was waiting to be adopted. I will never forget y'all, and I am praying that all of my old friends still there get adopted soon.

Love,

Lili

Scruffy Allen - A Big Part Of The Family !!

Hi Folks - I just had to share this New Beginnings story about Scruffy Allen. Those of you who regularly read the bios may remember Scruffy Allen as the dog whose owners left him tied to the door of a vet overnight. He was a little displaced and in need of some love and attention. I think you'll agree....he got that and so much more! Keep reading.......

Hi Donna,

Just a note while I’m sitting watching TV with our little man Scruffy Allen. Tom and I are so
happy that he checked on the internet and found Schnauzer Rescue of Houston.
After our loss of Snoopy, our household was very depressed. Kelly the German Shepherd
Therapy dog would not work well at the Rehab centers and Hospitals. Now Kelly and Scruffy
are the best of friends, and they play hard every day. They have a lot of respect for each other.
With the help of Kelly, Scruffy has learned to wait, come and sit commands. He is learning hand signals. He fetches the ball or his furry bone. He loves his two doggie doors. He even waits
for us to shut the back door so he can use the doggie door. Scruffy has full run of the back
yard, loves to play in water and mud too. Just a bath takes care of the dirt and mud. Vacuum
everyday takes care of the house. Scruffy loves to go in the HHR SUV for rides. Gives both
of us kisses on the ears and loves to sniff the air thru the windows.
I have taken Scruffy twice to a Rehab Center and he is doing very good. He soon will be a
Therapy dog.We do a lot of socializing and his shyness is going way. Tom walks Kelly and
Scruffy every morning about four blocks and he is doing well on the lead. He knows what
cows and deer are. He doesn’t bark just looks at them (about 20 yard or more away).
Scruffy and Trucker the cat nap with Tom every day. He goes to bed with Tom at night.
Scruffy loves his daddy.
Scruffy loves to entertain, as long as we laugh and clap and tell him he is so funny he will keep
going.
Our Nanny next door, has a Cairen Terry. They play at least three times a week. Our Vet. and groomer love Scruffy, very well behaved they say. In between grooming, Scruffy gets bathed at
home and his teeth brushed at least once a week.
Scruffy is a very smart Schnauzer and loves to learn. We do all our training with love, a lot of
petting and praise. With Kelly’s help Scruffy has become a very good watchdog. Does not bark
Excessive, only when necessary and loves to growl when someone walks to close to our vehicle. Our home and vehicle has become his. Tom says Scruffy has two speeds, fast and faster. I could
go on, and on about Scruffy.
Today the 29th of December, we took Scruffy and Kelly for a ride in the motor home. We
stopped at Office Depot and Chillis for lunch. Scruffy was so awesome. He never barked or
tore anything. He loves the motor home and loves to sit on the couch and look out the windows.
We are anxious to go on a small trip. He has so much trust in us as we have in him.
Kelly is now working well at the Rehab Centers, and Mom and Dad are so very happy and blessed. Scruffy was the best Thanksgiving and Christmas gift. We look forward to seeing
you, perhaps at another rescue fair. You are welcome anytime at our home to check on
Scruffy Allen our little man.
Please pass this note to other officers and members
Sincerely
Scruffy Allen’s Mom
